  • Review medications and lifestyle modifications that are recommended for the treatment of dyslipidemia.
  • Identify the patient populations that benefit from statin therapy according to consensus guidelines.
  • Discuss recommendations from the US Preventative Services Task Force for statin therapy in primary prevention.
  • Define the role in of non-statin therapy in the treatment of dyslipidemia.
  • Compare and contrast evidence-based guidelines with other expert recommendations for lipid management.

  • Compare and contrast the appropriate use, risks and benefits associated with colchicine, uric acid lowering drugs, steroids and NSAIDs in the management of gout.
  • Describe the natural course of illness, diagnostic criteria and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA).
  • Identify common drug therapies for the treatment of OA.
  • Review new safety data evaluating typical NSAIDs and celecoxib.
