  • Discuss evidence-based recommendations and guidelines for diagnosing, treating and controlling asthma.

  • Identify strategies to support patient education and adherence within inhaled medications for asthma.

Best Practices in Prescribing Opioids-Reamer L. Bushardt (1hr)

  • Describe evolving opioid prescribing and regulatory practices in the United States.
  • Discuss recently released opioid prescribing guidelines, highlighting the relevance to primary care providers.
  • Describe best practices and patient care resources for managing patients with chronic nonmalignant pain, highlighting guidance from a regulatory perspective.

Practical Approach to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Obstructive Sleep Apnea- Kevin O’Connor (2hrs)

  • Define treatment goals for patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
  • Discuss evidence-based recommendations and guidelines for diagnosing, treating and controlling Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

  • Identify the pathophysiology and comorbidities often associated with Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
  • Discuss lifestyle, medication, biomechanical and surgical options for the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

How to Tackle the Most Common Office Emergencies – Kevin O’Connor (1hr)

  • Identify the most common office emergencies encountered in the primary care setting.
  • Develop immediate action plans to address the most common office emergencies, to include appropriate medication, equipment and staff training.
  • Discuss ways in which the primary care provider can either initiate or integrate into already established national, state and local community resilience efforts.

Requirements for Credit

For ACPE, ANCC or AMA Category 2 Credit, you must receive a score of 70% or greater on the multiple choice test and and complete the written course evaluation.

*Pharmacists will have their credits reported directly to CPE Monitor. Please ensure that we have your NABP# and date of birth on file. ACPE does not allow us to provide you with paper Statements of Credit. Should you need a paper statement of credit, you can access that information via CPE Monitor. All other professionals: An applicable paper Statement of Credit will be issued upon receipt of your post-conference paperwork.

Obtaining CE Credit

Once your course is completed and accreditation requirements have been met, ULS will receive notification of course completion, and email your statement of credit (physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, and non-US health professionals), report credit to CPE Monitor (pharmacists)  and report credit to other organizations that you specify such as CE Broker. Please provide all necessary reporting information at the time of registration.

American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC):  Continuing education hours approved by ACPE meet the ANCC-accredited CNE criteria. This course provides pharmacology/pharmacotherapeutics Category 1 Continuing Education Hours for certification renewal. The same hours submitted to renew certification may be submitted to a State Board of Nursing for re-licensure.
