Advances in the Management of Diabetes

Learning Objectives:

1. Review recent updates to the standards of care recommended by the American Diabetes Association.

2. Describe recent cardiovascular and renal outcome trials for new diabetes medications and their implications for patient care.

3. Develop a plan to safely initiate and intensify insulin therapy using guideline recommendations and patient characteristics.

4. Evaluate the use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices in the management of diabetes.

5. Optimize pharmacotherapy for a patient with diabetes using glucose data.
