Dr. Orientale graduated from Brown University in 1983 and earned his M.D. degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1987. He completed Family Medicine residency training at UCLA in 1990 and then began work at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. There he served as a Predoctoral Director, Family Medicine Clerkship Director and in the advisory role of medical students as an Assistant Dean in the Office of Student Affairs. He received five prestigious teaching awards in seven years and became the youngest tenured faculty member in Family Medicine. He is board certified in both Family Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. Having joined the Department of Family Medicine at UCONN School of Medicine in 1997, he has served in the roles of medical school Course Director of Principles of Clinical Medicine, and Residency Program Director for 12 years. A full time Professor in Family Medicine for a decade, Dr. Orientale practiced the full spectrum of Family Medicine, including both inpatient care and obstetrics. Now a Professor Emeritus, he works part-time in a teaching role, with a special interest and expertise in both geriatrics and office procedures.
