Wendy L. Wright presents new drugs, obesity and hypertension therapies, immunization, behavioral health, controlled-substance prescribing, headache management, and emerging infections.

  1. Controlled Substance Prescribing: 1. Identify commonly prescribed controlled substances and risks of these medications, 2. Identify evidence-based best practices for prescribing controlled substances. 3. Discuss malpractice cases involving controlled substances and strategies to prevent.
  2. Headache Management: 4. Discuss current research regarding the etiology of primary and secondary headaches and impact of medications on each type of headache. 5. Identify the signs and symptoms of migraines. 6. Discuss the various pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments available for individuals with migraines.
  3. Emerging Infectious Diseases : 7. Discuss various viral and bacterial infectious diseases. 8. Identify the most common tests to identify etiology of various infectious diseases. 9.Discuss treatment options for various emerging viral and bacterial infections.

Term of Approval is from October 26, 2026 to October 28, 2026 Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

  • AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s) toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the 

  • American Osteopathic Association (AOA).‍ ‍ Continuing medical education (CME) activities approved for American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) credit are recognized by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) as equivalent to AOA Category 2 credit.

Requirements and reporting

  • University Learning Systems reports pharmacy credit through CPE Monitor using the participant’s eNABPID number and date of birth.
  • University Learning Systems is approved by CE Broker, for pharmacy, medicine and nursing for participating states,  Tracking #50-11357. Participant's state license number is required for reporting.
  • Credit is based on completed evaluations for registered sessions. 
  • Credit is awarded per session; partial session credit is not available, and breaks are excluded.
  • Other eligible participants receive an applicable statement of credit after completing the required documentation.
